In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.
[91:1] By the sun and its brightness.
وَٱلشَّمْسِwal-shamsiBy the sunوَضُحَىٰهَاwaḍuḥāhāand its brightness. ﴿١﴾
[91:2] The moon that follows it.
وَٱلْقَمَرِwal-qamariAnd the moonإِذَاidhāwhenتَلَىٰهَاtalāhāit followed it. ﴿٢﴾
[91:3] The day that reveals.
وَٱلنَّهَارِwal-nahāriAnd the dayإِذَاidhāwhenجَلَّىٰهَاjallāhāit revealed it. ﴿٣﴾
[91:4] The night that covers.
وَٱلَّيْلِwa-al-layliAnd the nightإِذَاidhāwhenيَغْشَىٰهَاyaghshāhāit covers it. ﴿٤﴾
[91:5] The sky and Him who built it.
وَٱلسَّمَآءِwal-samāiAnd the skyوَمَاwamāand thatبَنَىٰهَاbanāhāHe built it. ﴿٥﴾
[91:6] The earth and Him who sustains it.
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiAnd the earthوَمَاwamāand thatطَحَىٰهَاṭaḥāhāHe spread it / sustained it. ﴿٦﴾
[91:7] The soul and Him who created it.
وَنَفْسٍwanafsinAnd (the) soulوَمَاwamāand thatسَوَّىٰهَاsawwāhāHe fashioned it. ﴿٧﴾
[91:8] Then showed it what is evil and what is good.
فَأَلْهَمَهَاfa-alhamahāThen He placed innate knowledge in it (of)فُجُورَهَاfujūrahāits evilness / immoralityوَتَقْوَىٰهَاwataqwāhāand its righteousness. ﴿٨﴾
[91:9] Successful is one who redeems it.
قَدْqadIndeed,أَفْلَحَaflaḥasuccessfulمَنmanone (who)زَكَّىٰهَاzakkāhāhe purified it (redeemed his soul). ﴿٩﴾
[91:10] Failing is one who neglects it.
وَقَدْwaqadAnd indeed,خَابَkhābahe (will be) unsuccessful / failedمَنmanone (who)دَسَّىٰهَاdassāhāhe buried / corrupted it. ﴿١٠﴾
[91:11] Thamûd's disbelief caused them to transgress.
كَذَّبَتْkadhabat[It] denied / rejectedثَمُودُthamūduThamudبِطَغْوَىٰهَآbiṭaghwāhāby their transgression. ﴿١١﴾
[91:12] They followed the worst among them.
إِذِidhiWhenٱنۢبَعَثَinbaʿathait was sent forthأَشْقَىٰهَاashqāhā(the) most wicked (worst) of them. ﴿١٢﴾
[91:13] GOD's messenger said to them, "This is GOD's camel; let her drink."
فَقَالَfaqālaBut [he] saidلَهُمْlahumto themرَسُولُrasūlu(the) messengerٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,نَاقَةَnāqata"(It is the) she-camelٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Godوَسُقْيَـٰهَاwasuq'yāhāand her drinking water." ﴿١٣﴾
[91:14] They disbelieved him and slaughtered her. Their Lord then requited them for their sin and annihilated them.
فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuBut they denied / rejected him,فَعَقَرُوهَاfaʿaqarūhāand they slaughtered her.فَدَمْدَمَfadamdamaSo He annihilated / obliteratedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim[upon] themرَبُّهُمrabbuhumtheir Lordبِذَنۢبِهِمْbidhanbihimfor their sinفَسَوَّىٰهَاfasawwāhāand He leveled them. ﴿١٤﴾
[91:15] Yet, those who came after them remain heedless.
وَلَاwalāYet notيَخَافُyakhāfuhe fearsعُقْبَـٰهَاʿuq'bāhāits consequences. ﴿١٥﴾
