In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.
[75:1] I swear by the Day of Resurrection.
لَآlāNay!أُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِيَوْمِbiyawmiby (the) Day (of)ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmatithe Resurrection. ﴿١﴾
[75:2] And I swear by the blaming soul.
وَلَآwalāAnd nay!أُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِٱلنَّفْسِbil-nafsiby the soulٱللَّوَّامَةِl-lawāmati[the] blaming. ﴿٢﴾
[75:3] Does the human being think that we will not reconstruct his bones?
أَيَحْسَبُayaḥsabuDoes he thinkٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānuthe human beingأَلَّنallanthat notنَّجْمَعَnajmaʿawe will put together / assembleعِظَامَهُۥʿiẓāmahuhis bones? ﴿٣﴾
[75:4] Yes indeed; we are able to reconstruct his finger tip.
بَلَىٰbalāYes indeed;قَـٰدِرِينَqādirīna(We are) able [ones]عَلَىٰٓʿalātoأَنanthatنُّسَوِّىَnusawwiyawe reconstructبَنَانَهُۥbanānahuhis fingertips. ﴿٤﴾
[75:5] But the human being tends to believe only what he sees in front of him.
بَلْbalNay!يُرِيدُyurīdu[He] desiresٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānuthe human beingلِيَفْجُرَliyafjurathat he may disbelieveأَمَامَهُۥamāmahu(what is) in front / ahead of him. ﴿٥﴾
[75:6] He doubts the Day of Resurrection!
يَسْـَٔلُyasaluHe questionsأَيَّانَayyāna"When (is)يَوْمُyawmu(the) Day (of)ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmatithe Resurrection?" ﴿٦﴾
[75:7] Once the vision is sharpened.
فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenبَرِقَbariqa[it] is dazzledٱلْبَصَرُl-baṣaruthe vision, ﴿٧﴾
[75:8] And the moon is eclipsed.
وَخَسَفَwakhasafaAnd [it] (becomes) eclipsedٱلْقَمَرُl-qamaruthe moon, ﴿٨﴾
[75:9] And the sun and the moon crash into one another.
وَجُمِعَwajumiʿaAnd [it] was connected (together)ٱلشَّمْسُl-shamsuthe sunوَٱلْقَمَرُwal-qamaruand the moon, ﴿٩﴾
[75:10] The human being will say on that day, "Where is the escape?"
يَقُولُyaqūlu[He] will sayٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānuthe man / human beingيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat day,أَيْنَayna"Where (is)ٱلْمَفَرُّl-mafaruthe place of escape?" ﴿١٠﴾
[75:11] Absolutely, there is no escape.
كَلَّاkallāAbsolutely!لَاlā(There is) noوَزَرَwazararefuge. ﴿١١﴾
[75:12] To your Lord, on that day, is the final destiny.
إِلَىٰilāToرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lord (on)يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Day (is)ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّl-mus'taqaruthe place to seek comfort / rest / to settle (*final destiny). ﴿١٢﴾
[75:13] The human being will be informed, on that day, of everything he did to advance himself, and everything he did to regress himself.
يُنَبَّؤُا۟yunabba-u[He] will be informedٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānuthe man / human beingيَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhinthat dayبِمَاbimāof whatقَدَّمَqaddamahe sent forthوَأَخَّرَwa-akharaand he put behind. ﴿١٣﴾
[75:14] The human being will be his own judge.
بَلِbaliNay!ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānuthe man / human beingعَلَىٰʿalāagainstنَفْسِهِۦnafsihihimselfبَصِيرَةٌbaṣīratuna witness / seer / judge. ﴿١٤﴾
[75:15] No excuses will be accepted.
وَلَوْwalawEven ifأَلْقَىٰalqāhe offeredمَعَاذِيرَهُۥmaʿādhīrahuhis excuses. ﴿١٥﴾
Muhammad Forbidden From Explaining the Quran
[75:16] Do not move your tongue to hasten it.
لَاlāNotتُحَرِّكْtuḥarrikyou moveبِهِۦbihiwith itلِسَانَكَlisānakayour tongueلِتَعْجَلَlitaʿjalathat [you] may hastenبِهِۦٓbihiwith it. ﴿١٦﴾
[75:17] It is we who will collect it into Quran.
إِنَّinnaIndeed,عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon usجَمْعَهُۥjamʿahuits collectionوَقُرْءَانَهُۥwaqur'ānahuand its recitation / Quran. ﴿١٧﴾
[75:18] Once we recite it, you shall follow such a Quran.
فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd whenقَرَأْنَـٰهُqaranāhuwe recited it,فَٱتَّبِعْfa-ittabiʿthen you followقُرْءَانَهُۥqur'ānahuits recitation / Quran. ﴿١٨﴾
[75:19] Then it is we who will explain it.
ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّinnaindeed,عَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon us (is)بَيَانَهُۥbayānahuits explanation / clarification. ﴿١٩﴾
[75:20] Indeed, you love this fleeting life.
كَلَّاkallāNo!بَلْbalButتُحِبُّونَtuḥibbūnayou [all] loveٱلْعَاجِلَةَl-ʿājilatathe immediate / fleeting life. ﴿٢٠﴾
[75:21] While disregarding the Hereafter.
وَتَذَرُونَwatadharūnaAnd [you all] forsake / neglectٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَl-ākhiratathe Hereafter. ﴿٢١﴾
[75:22] Some faces, on that day, will be happy.
وُجُوهٌwujūhunFacesيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayنَّاضِرَةٌnāḍiratun(will be) radiant. ﴿٢٢﴾
[75:23] Looking at their Lord.
إِلَىٰilāTowardsرَبِّهَاrabbihāits Lordنَاظِرَةٌnāẓiratunlooking. ﴿٢٣﴾
[75:24] Other faces will be, on that day, miserable.
وَوُجُوهٌwawujūhunAnd facesيَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhinthat Dayبَاسِرَةٌbāsiratun(will be) frowning / miserable. ﴿٢٤﴾
[75:25] Expecting the worst.
تَظُنُّtaẓunnuIt thinking / expectingأَنanthatيُفْعَلَyuf'ʿala[it] will be doneبِهَاbihāto themفَاقِرَةٌfāqiratunback breaking calamity. ﴿٢٥﴾
[75:26] Indeed, when (the soul) reaches the throat.
كَلَّآkallāNo!إِذَاidhāWhen [in the future]بَلَغَتِbalaghatiit reachedٱلتَّرَاقِىَl-tarāqiyathe throat. ﴿٢٦﴾
[75:27] And it is ordered: "Let go!"
وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it (will be) said,مَنْman"Whoرَاقٍrāqinrises / ascends?" ﴿٢٧﴾
[75:28] He knows it is the end.
وَظَنَّwaẓannaAnd he (will) knowأَنَّهُannahuthat it (is)ٱلْفِرَاقُl-firāquthe separation / departure (end). ﴿٢٨﴾
[75:29] Each leg will lay motionless next to the other leg.
وَٱلْتَفَّتِwal-tafatiAnd [it] curl / wrap / roll upٱلسَّاقُl-sāquthe legبِٱلسَّاقِbil-sāqiover the (other) leg. ﴿٢٩﴾
[75:30] To your Lord, on that day, is the summoning.
إِلَىٰilāToرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayٱلْمَسَاقُl-masāqu(will be) the herding / summoning. ﴿٣٠﴾
[75:31] For he observed neither the charity, nor the contact prayers (Salat).
فَلَاfalāAnd notصَدَّقَṣaddaqahe spoke the truth / gave to charityوَلَاwalāand notصَلَّىٰṣallāhe prayed. ﴿٣١﴾
[75:32] But he disbelieved and turned away.
وَلَـٰكِنwalākinButكَذَّبَkadhabahe denied / disbelievedوَتَوَلَّىٰwatawallāand he turned away. ﴿٣٢﴾
[75:33] With his family, he acted arrogantly.
ثُمَّthummaThenذَهَبَdhahabahe wentإِلَىٰٓilātoأَهْلِهِۦahlihihis family,يَتَمَطَّىٰٓyatamaṭṭā[he] swaggering / acting arrogantly. ﴿٣٣﴾
[75:34] You have deserved this.
أَوْلَىٰawlāwoe / indeedلَكَlakato youفَأَوْلَىٰfa-awlāand woe! / indeed (you have deserved this)! ﴿٣٤﴾
[75:35] Indeed, you have deserved this.
ثُمَّthummaThenأَوْلَىٰawlāwoe / indeedلَكَlakato youفَأَوْلَىٰٓfa-awlāand woe! / indeed (you have deserved this)! ﴿٣٥﴾
[75:36] Does the human being think that he will go to nothing?
أَيَحْسَبُayaḥsabuDoes he thinkٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānuthe human beingأَنanthatيُتْرَكَyut'rakahe will be leftسُدًىsudanwithout purpose / overlooked / forsaken? ﴿٣٦﴾
[75:37] Was he not a drop of ejected semen?
أَلَمْalamWas notيَكُyakuhe [was]نُطْفَةًnuṭ'fatana tiny dropمِّنminofمَّنِىٍّmaniyyinsemenيُمْنَىٰyum'nāit emitted? ﴿٣٧﴾
[75:38] Then He created an embryo out of it!
ثُمَّthummaThenكَانَkānahe wasعَلَقَةًʿalaqatanan embryo,فَخَلَقَfakhalaqathen He createdفَسَوَّىٰfasawwāand He proportioned / shaped. ﴿٣٨﴾
[75:39] He made it into male or female!
فَجَعَلَfajaʿalaThen He madeمِنْهُmin'huof himٱلزَّوْجَيْنِl-zawjaynithe two kinds,ٱلذَّكَرَl-dhakarathe maleوَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓwal-unthāand the female. ﴿٣٩﴾
[75:40] Is He then unable to revive the dead?
أَلَيْسَalaysaIs notذَٰلِكَdhālikathat (He is)بِقَـٰدِرٍbiqādirinever ableعَلَىٰٓʿalāoverأَنanthatيُحْـِۧىَyuḥ'yiyaHe gives lifeٱلْمَوْتَىٰl-mawtā(to) the dead? ﴿٤٠﴾
