In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.
[82:1] When the heaven is shattered.
إِذَاidhāWhen [in the future]ٱلسَّمَآءُl-samāuthe heavenٱنفَطَرَتْinfaṭaratit (will be) cleft asunder / shattered. ﴿١﴾
[82:2] The planets are scattered.
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when [in the future]ٱلْكَوَاكِبُl-kawākibuthe stars / planetsٱنتَثَرَتْintatharatit (will be) scattered. ﴿٢﴾
[82:3] The oceans are exploded.
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when [in the future]ٱلْبِحَارُl-biḥāruthe oceansفُجِّرَتْfujjiratit (will be) gushed out / exploded. ﴿٣﴾
[82:4] The graves are opened.
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when [in the future]ٱلْقُبُورُl-qubūruthe gravesبُعْثِرَتْbuʿ'thiratit (will be) upturned / opened. ﴿٤﴾
[82:5] Every soul will find out what caused it to advance, and what caused it to regress.
عَلِمَتْʿalimat[It] (will) knowنَفْسٌnafsuna soulمَّاmāwhatقَدَّمَتْqaddamatit sent forthوَأَخَّرَتْwa-akharatand it left behind. ﴿٥﴾
Reflect on God's Creations
[82:6] O you human being, what diverted you from your Lord, Most Honorable?
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānu[the] human!مَاmāWhatغَرَّكَgharrakait deceived youبِرَبِّكَbirabbikaconcerning your Lordٱلْكَرِيمِl-karīmiMost Honorable. ﴿٦﴾
[82:7] The One who created you, designed you, and perfected you.
ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One whoخَلَقَكَkhalaqakaHe created you,فَسَوَّىٰكَfasawwākathen He fashioned (designed) youفَعَدَلَكَfaʿadalakathen He balanced (perfected) you? ﴿٧﴾
[82:8] In whatever design He chose, He constructed it.
فِىٓfīInأَىِّayyiwhateverصُورَةٍṣūratindesignمَّاmāwhatشَآءَshāaHe willed.رَكَّبَكَrakkabakaHe constructed you. ﴿٨﴾
[82:9] Indeed, you disbelieve in the religion.
كَلَّاkallāNay!بَلْbalButتُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūnayou [all] deny / disbelieveبِٱلدِّينِbil-dīniin the religion. ﴿٩﴾
[82:10] Oblivious to the fact that there are (invisible) keepers around you.
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed,عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover you [all] (are)لَحَـٰفِظِينَlaḥāfiẓīnasurely guardians, ﴿١٠﴾
[82:11] They are honest recorders.
كِرَامًاkirāmannoble / honorable / honestكَـٰتِبِينَkātibīna[ones] recording. ﴿١١﴾
[82:12] They record everything you do.
يَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaThey knowمَاmāwhateverتَفْعَلُونَtafʿalūnayou [all] do. ﴿١٢﴾
[82:13] Surely, the pious have deserved bliss.
إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱلْأَبْرَارَl-abrārathe piousلَفِىlafī(will be) surely inنَعِيمٍnaʿīminbliss. ﴿١٣﴾
[82:14] While the wicked have deserved Hell.
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed,ٱلْفُجَّارَl-fujārathe wickedلَفِىlafī(will be) surely inجَحِيمٍjaḥīminHellfire. ﴿١٤﴾
[82:15] Will incur it on the Day of Judgment.
يَصْلَوْنَهَاyaṣlawnahāThey will burn thereinيَوْمَyawma(on the) Day (of)ٱلدِّينِl-dīni[the] Judgment. ﴿١٥﴾
[82:16] They never leave it.
وَمَاwamāAnd notهُمْhumtheyعَنْهَاʿanhāfrom itبِغَآئِبِينَbighāibīnaever ones to be absent. ﴿١٦﴾
[82:17] Awesome is the Day of Judgment.
وَمَآwamāAnd what*أَدْرَىٰكَadrākait can make you know (*do you know)مَاmāwhat (is)يَوْمُyawmu(the) Day (of)ٱلدِّينِl-dīni[the] Judgment? ﴿١٧﴾
[82:18] What a day; the Day of Judgment!
ثُمَّthummaThen,مَآmāwhatأَدْرَىٰكَadrākait can make you know (*do you know)مَاmāwhat (is)يَوْمُyawmu(the) Day (of)ٱلدِّينِl-dīni[the] Judgment? ﴿١٨﴾
[82:19] That is the day when no soul can help another soul, and all decisions, on that day, will belong to GOD.
يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayلَاlānotتَمْلِكُtamliku[it] have powerنَفْسٌnafsuna soulلِّنَفْسٍlinafsinfor a soulشَيْـًٔاshayananything,وَٱلْأَمْرُwal-amruand the decisionيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayلِّلَّهِlillahi(will be) with God. ﴿١٩﴾
