In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.
[64:1] Glorifying GOD is everything in the heavens and everything on earth. To Him belongs all kingship, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is Omnipotent.
يُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥu[It] glorifiesلِلَّهِlillahi[to] Godمَاmāwhateverفِىfīinٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth.لَهُlahuFor Him (is)ٱلْمُلْكُl-mul'kuthe dominion / kingshipوَلَهُwalahuand for Him (is)ٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamduall praise.وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He (is)عَلَىٰʿalāoverكُلِّkullieveryشَىْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunOmnipotent. ﴿١﴾
[64:2] He is the One who created you, then among you there is the disbeliever, and the believer. GOD is fully Seer of everything you do.
هُوَhuwaHe (is)ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One whoخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumHe created you [all]فَمِنكُمْfaminkumthen among you [all] (is)كَافِرٌkāfiruna disbelieverوَمِنكُمwaminkumand among you [all] (is)مُّؤْمِنٌmu'minuna believer.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)بِمَاbimāin whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou [all] doبَصِيرٌbaṣīrunSeer. ﴿٢﴾
[64:3] He created the heavens and the earth for a specific purpose,* designed you and perfected your design, then to Him is the final destiny.
خَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthبِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin the truth (*truthfully),وَصَوَّرَكُمْwaṣawwarakumand He designed / shaped you [all]فَأَحْسَنَfa-aḥsanaand He made good / perfectedصُوَرَكُمْṣuwarakumyour designs,وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him (is)ٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīruthe final return / destiny. ﴿٣﴾
*64:3 We are in this world due to God's immense mercy. The Most Gracious has given us a chance to redeem ourselves. See the Introduction & Appendix 7.
[64:4] He knows everything in the heavens and the earth, and He knows everything you conceal and everything you declare. GOD is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhat (is)فِىfīinٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth,وَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand He knowsمَاmāwhatتُسِرُّونَtusirrūnayou [all] concealوَمَاwamāand whatتُعْلِنُونَtuʿ'linūnayou [all] declare.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmunfully awareبِذَاتِbidhātiof (what) [it] possessedٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūrithe hearts / minds. ﴿٤﴾
[64:5] Have you noted those who disbelieved in the past, then suffered the consequences of their decision? They incurred a painful retribution.
أَلَمْalamHas notيَأْتِكُمْyatikum[it] come to you [all]نَبَؤُا۟naba-u(the) newsٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarū[they] disbelievedمِنminfromقَبْلُqablubefore?فَذَاقُوا۟fadhāqūSo they tastedوَبَالَwabāla(the) bad consequence (of)أَمْرِهِمْamrihimtheir decision,وَلَهُمْwalahumand for them (is)عَذَابٌʿadhābuna retributionأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful. ﴿٥﴾
[64:6] This is because their messengers went to them with clear proofs, but they said, "Shall we follow humans like us?" They disbelieved and turned away. GOD does not need them; GOD is in no need, Praiseworthy.
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat (is)بِأَنَّهُۥbi-annahubecause [it]كَانَتkānatit hadتَّأْتِيهِمْtatīhim[it] come to themرُسُلُهُمrusuluhumtheir messengersبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith the clear proofs,فَقَالُوٓا۟faqālūbut they said,أَبَشَرٌabasharun"Is it human beingsيَهْدُونَنَاyahdūnanā(who) they guide us?"فَكَفَرُوا۟fakafarūSo they disbelievedوَتَوَلَّوا۟watawallawand they turned away.وَّٱسْتَغْنَىwa-is'taghnāAnd [He] is in no need / able to do without themٱللَّهُl-lahuGod.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)غَنِىٌّghaniyyunSelf-sufficient / Free of need,حَمِيدٌḥamīdunPraiseworthy. ﴿٦﴾
[64:7] Those who disbelieved claim that they will not be resurrected! Yes indeed, by my Lord, you will be resurrected, and you will be held accountable for everything you have done. This is easy for GOD to do.
زَعَمَzaʿama[He] claimedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟kafarū[they] disbelievedأَنanthatلَّنlanneverيُبْعَثُوا۟yub'ʿathūthey will be resurrected!قُلْqulSay,بَلَىٰbalā"Yes,وَرَبِّىwarabbīby my Lord,لَتُبْعَثُنَّlatub'ʿathunnasurely you [all] will be resurrected;ثُمَّthummathenلَتُنَبَّؤُنَّlatunabba-unnasurely you [all] will be informedبِمَاbimāof whatعَمِلْتُمْʿamil'tumyou [all] did.وَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatعَلَىʿalāforٱللَّهِl-lahiGod (is)يَسِيرٌyasīruneasy." ﴿٧﴾
[64:8] Therefore, you shall believe in GOD and His messenger, and the light that we have revealed herein. GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.
فَـَٔامِنُوا۟faāminūSo believe [you all]بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Godوَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihiand His messengerوَٱلنُّورِwal-nūriand the lightٱلَّذِىٓalladhīwhichأَنزَلْنَاanzalnāwe sent down.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God,بِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou [all] do (is)خَبِيرٌkhabīrunCognizant. ﴿٨﴾
[64:9] The day will come when He summons you to the Day of Summoning. That is the Day of Mutual Blaming. Anyone who believes in GOD and leads a righteous life, He will remit his sins, and will admit him into gardens with flowing streams. They abide therein forever. This is the greatest triumph.
يَوْمَyawma(The) DayيَجْمَعُكُمْyajmaʿukumHe will summon / gather you [all]لِيَوْمِliyawmifor (the) Day (of)ٱلْجَمْعِl-jamʿithe Assembly / Summoning,ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat (will be)يَوْمُyawmu(the) Day (of)ٱلتَّغَابُنِl-taghābuni[the] Mutual Blaming.وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُؤْمِنۢyu'min[he] believesبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Godوَيَعْمَلْwayaʿmaland he doesصَـٰلِحًاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)يُكَفِّرْyukaffirHe will remitعَنْهُʿanhufrom himسَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦsayyiātihihis evil deedsوَيُدْخِلْهُwayud'khil'huand He will admit himجَنَّـٰتٍjannātin(to) gardensتَجْرِىtajrīit flowsمِنminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāruthe rivers / streams,خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna[ones] eternally abidingفِيهَآfīhāthereinأَبَدًاabadanforever.ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat (is)ٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzuthe triumphٱلْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmuthe great / greatest. ﴿٩﴾
[64:10] As for those who disbelieve and reject our revelations, they are the dwellers of the Hellfire; they abide therein forever. What a miserable destiny!
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarū[they] disbelievedوَكَذَّبُوا۟wakadhabūand they denied / rejectedبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināin our verses / revelations,أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose (are)أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions (of)ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire,خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna[ones] eternally abidingفِيهَاfīhātherein.وَبِئْسَwabi'saAnd miserable (is)ٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīruthe destination / destiny. ﴿١٠﴾
Divine Law
[64:11] Nothing happens to you except in accordance with GOD's will. Anyone who believes in GOD, He will guide his heart. GOD is fully aware of all things.
مَآmāNotأَصَابَaṣābait befellمِنminanyمُّصِيبَةٍmuṣībatinafflictionإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God.وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُؤْمِنۢyu'min[he] believesبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin God,يَهْدِyahdiHe guidesقَلْبَهُۥqalbahuhis heart.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)بِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَىْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunfully aware / Omniscient. ﴿١١﴾
[64:12] You shall obey GOD and you shall obey the messenger. If you turn away, then the sole mission of our messenger is to deliver the message.
وَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūSo obey [you all]ٱللَّهَl-lahaGodوَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūand obey [you all]ٱلرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe messenger;فَإِنfa-inbut ifتَوَلَّيْتُمْtawallaytumyou [all] turned away,فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyعَلَىٰʿalāuponرَسُولِنَاrasūlināour messenger (is)ٱلْبَلَـٰغُl-balāghuthe delivery ٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuthe clear. ﴿١٢﴾
[64:13] GOD: there is no other god besides Him. In GOD the believers shall trust.
ٱللَّهُal-lahuGod,لَآlā(there is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHim.وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponٱللَّهِl-lahiGodفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkaliso let [him] rely / put (their) trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers. ﴿١٣﴾
[64:14] O you who believe, your spouses and your children can be your enemies; beware. If you pardon, forget, and forgive, then GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanū[they] believed!إِنَّinnaIndeed,مِنْminfromأَزْوَٰجِكُمْazwājikumyour spousesوَأَوْلَـٰدِكُمْwa-awlādikumand your childrenعَدُوًّاʿaduwwan(can be) an enemyلَّكُمْlakumto you [all],فَٱحْذَرُوهُمْfa-iḥ'dharūhumso beware of them [you all].وَإِنwa-inBut ifتَعْفُوا۟taʿfūyou [all] pardonوَتَصْفَحُوا۟wataṣfaḥūand you [all] overlook / forbear / forgetوَتَغْفِرُوا۟wataghfirūand you [all] forgive,فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed,ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod (is)غَفُورٌghafūrunForgiver,رَّحِيمٌraḥīmunMerciful. ﴿١٤﴾
[64:15] Your money and children are a test, and GOD possesses a great recompense.
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnlyأَمْوَٰلُكُمْamwālukumyour wealth / moneyوَأَوْلَـٰدُكُمْwa-awlādukumand your children (are)فِتْنَةٌfit'natuna trial / test,وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Godعِندَهُۥٓʿindahuwith Him (is)أَجْرٌajruna reward / recompenseعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat. ﴿١٥﴾
[64:16] Therefore, you shall reverence GOD as much as you can, and listen, and obey, and give (to charity) for your own good. Anyone who is protected from his own stinginess, these are the successful ones.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo reverence [you all]ٱللَّهَl-lahaGodمَاmāwhatٱسْتَطَعْتُمْis'taṭaʿtumyou [all] are ableوَٱسْمَعُوا۟wa-is'maʿūand listen [you all]وَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūand obey [you all]وَأَنفِقُوا۟wa-anfiqūand spend / give [you all];خَيْرًاkhayran(it is) betterلِّأَنفُسِكُمْli-anfusikumfor yourselves.وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُوقَyūqahe is saved / protectedشُحَّshuḥḥa(from the) stinginess / selfishness (of)نَفْسِهِۦnafsihihis soul / self,فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumuthey (are)ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūnathe successful ones. ﴿١٦﴾
[64:17] If you lend GOD a loan of righteousness, He will multiply the reward for you manifold, and forgive you. GOD is Appreciative, Clement.
إِنinIfتُقْرِضُوا۟tuq'riḍūyou [all] loanٱللَّهَl-laha(to) Godقَرْضًاqarḍana loanحَسَنًاḥasananrighteousness,يُضَـٰعِفْهُyuḍāʿif'huHe multiplies itلَكُمْlakumfor you [all]وَيَغْفِرْwayaghfirand He forgivesلَكُمْlakum[for] you [all].وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)شَكُورٌshakūrunAppreciative,حَلِيمٌḥalīmunClement. ﴿١٧﴾
[64:18] The Knower of all secrets and declarations; the Almighty, Most Wise.
عَـٰلِمُʿālimuKnower (of)ٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybithe unseen / secretوَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِwal-shahādatiand the testimony / declaration,ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe Almighty,ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuMost Wise. ﴿١٨﴾
